WATERSLIDES IN AUXILIARY HOSPITAL WASHROOM by Daniel Thompson

Demolition

The very human smell of not

showering

A lack of patience, a lack of pride

Turn me on my head to restart me

Shake the salt and pepper shakers

Pick up a dead leaf that you found

on the sidewalk and turn it over

Don't count sheep in bed while

Thinking of me

Falling asleep is a holy process

In the dark bar men congregate to agree

on something

Watch them talk, watch them drink

all night

Leave your man behind

and quit your old grudges

The sugar factory will be demolished

No amount of protesting will stop it
